Street Pastors was set up in London in 2003 as a Christian response to the problems of anti-social behaviour that are blighting our society. There are now about 200 towns & cities across the country where Street Pastors operate.

The initiative consists of local churches working alongside the Police & Local Authorities to send out teams of trained Street Pastors into town and city centres, primarily on Friday and Saturday nights, not to preach but to help people on the streets.

This is achieved by making sure that people get to a taxi safely, tending to someone passed out on the ground, diffusing a potentially volatile situation, even giving out flip flops to women who have taken off their shoes for the long walk home or just simply providing a listening ear for someone.

In short, Street Pastors is about caring, in a practical sense, for our community and the safety of those within it.

More info as regards becoming a Street Pastor

SP commitment:

18 years old or over (no upper age)

Committed to Christian fellowship for over 1 year

Obtains a positive reference from their Church leader / Minister

Completed a CRB check successfully. Get more information re CRB process here.

Fill in AT forms.

Committed to complete 12 days training within 12 months.

1 night on duty every month on Friday or Saturday night between 10pm and 4am

Contribute 100 GBP (50 GBP returnable on return of uniform) or 10 GBP per month for 1 year (50% returnable on return of uniform up to max 50 GBP)
